LLRC Classroom Research Grants Proposal Guidelines

In a separate statement, 3-4 double-spaced typewritten pages, explain what you propose to do. Please use the following headings for each section of your proposal. The questions are to guide your response in each section.

1. PURPOSE AND SIGNIFICANCE: What is the purpose of your study? What research questions(s) do you plan to answer? List it/them as specifically as possible. Why is this question an important question for your teaching? What have you already done to explore this question?

2. METHOD: How will the question(s) be answered? Be specific; explain what data will be gathered, how it will be gathered, and how it will be examined and analyzed. What kinds of information will be collected; i.e. writing samples, test scores, observations, etc? How will information be gathered? How will information be analyzed? Which students will participate?

3. FEASIBILITY: Will school sites be cooperative? What is the timeline for this study? Include a brief timeline of the activities beginning in February.

4. DISSEMINATION: What will be done with the research results once the project is completed?

5. LETTER: Attach the proposal statement to a letter for the administrator(s) of the cooperating school(s) indicating willingness to approve the completion of this study.
